I imagine if it acted like a heat sink, it would help, no? Perhaps the issue is that it serves to insulate and increase heat retention in the brake track area?

I've build a couple of wheelsets with Bitex hubs and they have been faultless so far; free spinning, no wobble, no breakage or other issues. I'd happily spend more on hubs if I was convinced they'd be better in some useful way.
