When I was a kid, we had a Commodore 64, and we had this game called Wargames. It was pretty much just like the movie. You had to know to type in "Joshua" as the password to get in. Then, if you chose Globular and Thermonuclear Warfare, it'd ask you if you'd prefer a nice game of chess before starting. As in the movie, there were other games that you could play (never chosen in the movie), but one of them was a biowarfare simulation. You create an island, decide how big it is, decide population density, decide incubation period, infectivity, and virulence of your pathogen of interest, and watch and see how long it would take (if at all) to decimate a population with your made up bioweapon. At the time, it seemed kind of fun for a nerdy kid like me who would eventually grow up to be a microbiologist. Now, it just seems kind of morbid and awful, but the Ebola discussion made me think of it.
