It has and will always be my favorite bass, and I own 9 basses. Now for my question. Why In The World Would You Get Rid Of a EB-2? Wish I was there when you did!!!!!! Nice Tbird BTW, I have one of those too.
I'm Dave, pleased to meet you!

I've got 4 basses. What's kind of goofy is that as weird as I was about guitars- literally trading around a guitar a week for years; I really didn't go through a lot of basses. My first bass I owned is a 71-ish EB-0. That was a lot of lawn mowing, although I rarely use it anymore and it really doesn't sound "good," it sounds unique and plays super easy. The only two good basses I sold were my 70s Rick and the EB-2.

This is where the bass stable has been since 1998-

That's a 79 T-Bird (ostensibly one of the 8 sunbursts made that year), the 71-is EB-0, a custom ordered G&L L2000 (a custom ordered, USA made bass for $850- crazy!), and a 65 Jazz Bass. Someday I'll get a Fireglo 4003 or maybe look around for an old one- but my main gig is in a Rolling Stones "tribute" band, so that woofy type bass works out well.

As far as why I'd sell the EB-2... I got it in 87 with my bonus money for joining the Army. It looked really pretty, it played SUPER nice (really round neck profile with a 1.5" nut width) and it was super classy. But... it didn't sound like a Precision or Jazz. In the early 90s I was mostly playing guitar, I'd gotten the T-Bird that sounded better, and I really didn't need the EB-2- honestly- I didn't like the sound. Around 1994 I sold it, used the money to get a 65 Esquire (THE guitar used on the BoDeans "Love, Hope, Sex and Dreams" album... Yes I owned the "Fadeaway" guitar- I replaced the Jazzmaster pickup in the bridge with a series of regular Tele pickups)

and I sold that and bought my first SWR Bass cabs.

So it really did work out for me in the end. Sort of. I don't gig those cabs anymore, just too big and heavy to lift. But they still sound awesome.

I ride touring bikes. (just had to throw that in there so ostensibly keep it on track)
