The kinds of comments I heard from fellow campers when they see us ride to our site on bikes were priceless. We were going to take a bike camping tour last month but due to poor planning on my part it never happened, but I really hope we get a chance to do it next summer for her 10th birthday.
One thing a co-worker of mine suggested (we ride at lunches) is to leave work at 5, bike about 26 miles to a local campground and then get up early and bike back in time to get ready for work. Leave our vehicles at work in the parking lot. That sounded fun so in two Thursdays that is what we are going to do.
Since it is just one night I am going to see how light I can pack and use my day pack. Water is at the campground so I won't have to carry too much of that. Shelter, food and a small bit of clothing. If it is warm it will work really well.
