Transferring components to new Ti frame - A few questions..............
Hello,
Have not posted here for a few years. My current road ride is an 07 or 08 Rocky Mountain. I have an incoming 2011 Guru Praemio titanium frame that I plan to build up using all components from the Rocky Mountain. I have not ridden much the past few years so the Rocky Mountain probably has 2k miles or less on it. Full SRAM Rival components...... FSA Energy crank..... Ksyrium Elite wheelset...... components worth saving. I have a couple of questions......
1. Bottom Bracket: The existing RM frame (I think) has a 70mm bottom bracket shell width. The new bike has a 68mm width. The bottom bracket is an FSA BB-6000 or similar. Will this fit the slightly narrower shell on the new frame.
2. Headset: The RM has an FSA Intellaset Pro threadless headset. My plan is to try to remove and reuse. I have read up on how to remove with screwdrivers, etc..... Is it possible to use a pipe wrench with a rag to protect the headset and gently twist it out? Should I just fork over extra money and buy a new Headset for the new bike? FYI, I am reusing the Carbon fiber Columbus fork, so I can leave the crown race be if I reuse the headset.
3. Cables: Assume it is ok to transfer the cables as long as they fit ok. I am comfortable trimming them if needed. Bike has never been ridden in rain or bad weather.
Thanks all.
Nick
