This summer is the first time I have ever had two bikes a the same time. I almost always sell off previous parts to build up something new. And I always reuse half the parts because I do operate under a budget. The most I've ever spent on a build was ~$1,600. And when have I ever flaunted my bikes? I post them with a description in the "post your ss/fg" thread and that's it.

On topic, 7075 is 87 and 6061 is 59 on the rockwell B hardness scale, so it would last a good bit longer. May as well wear out your current ring first though.
