I had a very similar experience on a MUP on sunday. I stopped there to refill bottles, and while cruising on the trail, there was a dad with three kids. Two on bikes (one of which had training wheels) and another was on a big wheel.
I slowed down to less than 2mph. Slowly passed them and congratulated the kids for riding so far. They all started giggling at the alien in his spandex. As did I.
In hindsight, yeah I should have been going at 5km/h but I guarantee that no one would be going at that speed in that particular corner - ever (unless they're on a kid bike).
Quick downhill just before the curve makes it really hard to do that.
Either way, I do go slow and expect that guy to be in that corner again every time I go there now...
