Today I was on the track of a pretty cool vintage bike, a ladies Raleigh Superbe from the early fifties. Figured I could use it as girlfriend bait, so more boxes of bike parts could appear on my porch at odd hours. Unfortunately, the guy who has it didn't show up at the scheduled meet (hope he's okay, good guy, one of the local flea market dealers and I suspect something came up. With any luck, I'll see the Raleigh friday; I'm crossing my fingers). Disappointed, I instead bought this pile of bikes for a bit more than 7$ a bike.
Schwinn (Taiwain made) beach cruiser. Already gone to a neighbor who saw it.
Schwinn World Sport-- needs new rear mech at least maybe tires. Probably get sold to a co-worker who needs a general transport bike
Giant Rincon-- base comfort bike, gone already to a co-worker
Nishiki Cascade-- nice cro-moly hardtail, full Shimano Deore LX, cool bullhorn style bars. Little/no mileage. Likely to get stripped for parts, rebuilt, and then resold. Can use the Deore for a project of my own.
KHS Ext Trail-- Dear lord, it's a full suspension mountain bike, and not a wal-mart one, either. Never had one of these abominations. White industries hub and cranks, Mid range shimano shifters/mechs, looks okay. Know nothing about it, so I geuss I'll need to find out at least a bit. I wouldn't have bought it, but it was in the pile. Might tool about on it, and then sell it. Mostly needs mud cleaned off it.
Cannondale R400 road bike. Full shimano rx100, brifters, another abomination... okay, not really. Looks like it's been in the basement for awhile, plenty of cobwebs, but with the exception of the dry rotted tires, in pretty good shape. Sale bait.
Nothing really vintage, but some stuff I can use and sell. Had to leave a couple bikes because they would not fit in my car. Still, I'd rather have the Raleigh. Perhaps I'm turning into a version of bigbossman... hey, there's an idea, I can get Mswantank to do my work for cheap. Mswantak, I'll give you two plestcher racks! Also, I have to make space in the basement for this load... now to go find out something about them, so I can sell 'em all and buy a Rene Herse.
