well i was on vacation for the first few weeks of January (Russia - St Petersburg and Moscow).
since then, January has been pretty good for cycling except a little too warm so too much rain. i LOVE riding in the snow, although rain near freezing is not so good.
we've had snow probably on about half of the days in January. and rain on about a quarter

and only 1 or 2 times did we get more than 5-6" of snow at a time, and the most was about a foot.
i only cancelled one commuting day - b/c it was too warm and raining. i had some really good snow commutes and averaged something around 3.5 days/week for my 11km x 2 commute --- i was sick for about 4-5 days so i took the train 4 times one week... so something like 350km commuting plus another 150km trails = 500km (312miles)
we had temps from -15C to +6C with most of the time being in the -5 to +3 range.
bike's doing great (although i'm a little worried about ALL the salt) and the Schwalbe studded tires are awesome (i compared them a few days ago to my friend's Nokias and they are almost identical - he has one of each). i wish they didn't use so much salt here. there are commutes where i ride on snow and everything is great and then i hit a big road all salted wil dirty nasty salty slush-snow and i get so dirty!
in the week where it was cold here (no rain) i also did some great snow-covered trail rides --- lately it's been a little wet and muddy/slushy so less good for trails.
