just wondering if the smaller rear rack seems worth having. i mean, does it seem better than a normal bike with normal lenth rack, or as good as the longer lenth longtails?

i just picked up a cheapish tandem (pacific dualie), and i'm thinking it could be in line as a cargo bike experiment. i want to keep it as a full time tandem though, so no using the rear rider area. but being so long already, i don't want to add a regular sized longtail addition (like adding a suspended mountain bike rear section). so i'm thinking something in the range of the bikes mentioned, but if it's not much better than just adding a normal bike rack it would kind of take the fun out of trying it.

so anyone have any words of praise for their... midtail? do they have a name? thanks for any help.
