I think the problem with Campy & Shimano is they are both afflicted with the Not-Invented-Here syndrome, and don't want to come down off their high-horse and admit someone else invented a better solution.
Maybe...or perhaps its even liability. Statistically a Master link may fail more per bikes sold than a press in rivet for the simple reason of installation error. If a masterlink isn't installed properly, it can be a real liability. FWIW I have also installed KMC Missing links on Ultegra 11s chains and even Ultegra 9s chains for mtb's. I have never had a failure...but I make sure the link is installed properly.
