None of this makes any sense. If by pro peloton you're referring to TDF riders then I think you're underestimating their basic capability. It's not like the pros can get by on genetic capability only, they're all training and racing 20-30 hrs/wk. It's not really possible to train harder than they do.

The reality is some guys have it and some don't. This applies to intellect as well as physical capabilities.
