Within reason. I rode with a faster group yesterday. When I could keep up, it was great, and it got me a couple of Strava top 10s on some busy roads that I couldn't dream of otherwise. But I could never have kept up all day, and finished up riding solo for more than half of, essentially, a century ride.

On the other hand, when I ride with my wife, I ride my single speed. So when we're climbing, she's spinning and I'm working on power and stability to keep a high-ish gear turning very slowly, and when we're descending/on the flat, I'm spinning and she's just turning her gear. And she's learned how to draft, so I lead into the wind, but let her lead with it behind us.
