Yesterday one of my fellow group-riders suggested that I rethink my plan to do the Hilly (Helly?) Century route, saying that the low road ride is fun and festive and why would I want to bother with the additional 2,500 ft. of climbing? So a minute ago I went and looked back at some of my Strava data:
Windmill Century: 5,439 ft.
Solvang Century: 5,679 ft.
Cruisin' the Conejo: 6,289 ft.
Cool Breeze Hilly Century route: 7,900 +/-
Regular Cool Breeze route: 5,400 +/-
Some of my CVC buddies are doing the Double Metric. Not me...
Question going through my head is whether I really need the additional exercise versus being able to avoid that under-construction section of bike lane running along the freeway. Hmm. Any thoughts from those who've done this ride in prior years?
