I recently got a serfas mini half stick something or other. I'm just going to hope that I don't have a chance to find out how lousy it is anytime soon at actually pumping a tire to 100ish psi.

Just remember, a pump looks way less silly than walking home in road shoes. I've come to terms with being unfashionable, I've got mountain bike shoes, a triple, and a pump mounted on the water bottle braze-ons. It's just a good thing that I like riding alone after dark. Just to complete the effect I'm thinking about putting a rack on the bike too.
