I like old mtbs as much as the next guy, but that seems like a lot for a Rockhopper. These things are still undervalued - I would concentrate my efforts on a local search. There must be lots of rigid mtbs without striking distance of Atlanta.

I just helped a friend in Charleston SC find a 90s model for $80 on craigslist. My inlaws just got a 2000ish aluminum one for $60.
They are excellent bikes and I would buy one in a heartbeat; which is what I told my friend in SC.
Edit: My memory may be wrong. They may have been Hard Rocks not Rock Hoppers. Damn I am too young for this.
