I attached a fish scale to a joist in my workshop. I added a strap to the hook. It weighs things up to 50lbs. Works great. I also have a smaller digital scale that weighs (parts) in grams or ounces. But I'm not a weight weenie and readily recognize the best way to lighten the load is skip those heavy dinners.
My wife tells me the same thing about those nightime snacks. I told her the bike had to go on diet (while holding a Coors Light in my hand). Actually, I took up biking again because I was putting on too much weight and sure enough, since I started riding my bike regularly I've put on about 5 lbs. Maybe I should try the dieting and bike riding.
