Tullio Campagnolo is credited with inventing the QR skewer in 1930, and marketing QR equipped hub in 1933.
All of my 126mm hubs have QRs, including Campy Record, Chorus, C-Record (all ~1986-1988), M23 (1986), and even the cheap Maillard hubs that came as standard equipment on my 1986 Peugeot. The last bike I had without QRs was my old <cough>
huffy<cough>.
Although technically, the Vitus didn't come with QRs... it didn't come with wheels, I bought it as a bare frame and built the wheels myself.
All of the riders I knew in high school had QRs. And clipless pedals - it was the dawn of the clipless era (Look and Time were the bee's knees) That brief period of time when the 7 speed freewheels, aero bars and cable routing, and index shifting were all on the bleeding edge. (Note: Synchro I, SGR-1, and Delta brakes were all giving Campy headaches also).
And that's where we were in 1986-1988.
