If you do go w/ new skewers make sure that you get a true internal/enclosed cam type if you ever plan to use them on horizontal dropouts or a fork w/o "lawyer lips".

Sheldon Brown on why:
"The exposed-cam skewers are generally OK for vertical dropouts in back, and for forks with "lawyer lips", but should not be relied on with horizontal dropouts or plain forks." -http://sheldonbrown.com/skewers.html

Shimano still makes enclosed cam skewers, a quick glance at Amazon has them from $14 on up.
