When I was changing my crankset awhile back and considering whether to cheap-out by keeping my old bottom bracket, I searched all over this place before deciding to get the correct ISO BB to go with my cranks. But something that stuck with me from discussions I found on the subject was that in at least one instance, someone pretty well thought of around here supported interchangeability of ISO/JIS:
