Newbie here, greeting!

I was wondering if someone have any idea about how I can swap my old chainring 53/39 (BCD 130) to lower gearing say 50/34 or even lower. The reason being I have a old shimano 600 7 speed bike, BCD 130, and I will like to have a lower gearing ratio for mountain climbing, the current lowest gearing is 26t - 39t (a bit too much for me), it seems there is no better solution than change the whole crankset setup? I love this old bike and will like to try my best to avoid change too much... Thanks for your help in advance!
