As far as group vs. solo riding is concerned, I do both, mix it up about 50/50. I understand everybody is different and has their preferences. Solo riding is great. Group rides can be great. I'm not loyal to any particular group. I might ride with a half dozen different groups in a months time. There are some groups I don't like to ride with. There are some groups I will ride with, but I avoid riding close to certain individuals within the group. When I ride with a group I'm looking for a positive experience. And a few minor conflicts won't ruin the ride for me.
After spewing my thoughts here for a while I've realized why I was so annoyed by the situation this past week. The comment from "that guy" after the climb was typical and expected, and in itself didn't phase me. The comment at the end of the ride came at a time when everybody is usually feeling good, and it's - "Great ride" and/or fist bumps. Instead, I got sucker punched. Totally didn't see it coming.
This has been therapeutic for me. Thanks for the support and positive comments. And thanks for the negative comments too. At least it's been civil..
