Hotter N' Hell

Rode the Hotter N' Hell Hundred Saturday. It got up to 103 and the wind was on our nose the hottest part of the ride. Saw lots of people sagging in, some receiving medical attention. One guy was laying on the shoulder and some more were laying under what few shade trees there are. Saw a young lady pushing a nice c/f bike with the seat post broke off and the top tube badly mangled. A guy ran off the shoulder and wiped out right in front of my riding pardner. I was to her left and moved further left in case she came my way. She didn't realize I had moved and went into the grass herself and ended up falling. Thankfully she had slowed a lot and no one was hurt.

Another friend riding with us had a blowout ruining the tire. He sagged into the next rest stop where Bikes INC put him a tire & tube on for a "donation" Great support from them!

According to the news there were about 10,500 riders down a little from last year.

Since this was my first Century my wife, daughter and her 5 girls were waiting at the finish for me! That was the perfect end to a hot & hard ride.
