This has happened to me four times. Twice at the same house, right on the highway. The only difference is that have not tried to outrun the dogs, it usually a case of they come out on the road at a right angle right in front of a car.
Harsh experience has taught me that its sometimes best to ride on. Some owners who already hate cyclists will blame you.
Better the driver hits the dog than swerve at you to avoid it, as did happen to me once. Luckily it was a wide shoulder and I got out of the way in time.
I don't mean to change the subject. A motorcyclist friend hit a dog and crashed. The owners came out and beat him as he lay injured. Is there any requirement to stop after hitting a dog. A driver can never be liable, right?
