Bikes: See the signature....

First half century in over a quarter century-took the Torpado

Last week I decided to attend/attempt the local bike clubs organized road ride. It consists of three loops of varying length;24, 35, and 46 miles. I did the 24 and 35 mile loops. The first 35 was okay, the next ten were much harder, and the last 15 were excruciating. But I did it, and I'm glad I did.
Bike selection turned out to be not quite right. The '84 Elite GT with it's gearing would've been a better match for the hills on the second loop. The 9speed Campy equipped '85 Torpado was flawless all day, the gearing just wasn't a match for my legs. 39-23 low gear just wasn't cutting it after mile 30. My pace just got slower, especially up the hills. I did manage to squeak out a 14mph average for the ride.
All in all, pretty happy. Just dog tired, and slightly sunburnt. And yes, I managed to take 0 pictures.
