In the Lansing Noise there is an article about the rising cost of gas and commuting and transportation alternatives like bus, bike, etc. Four reporters tried different methods for one day and wrote up the results. The section about biking was appalling. My favorite quotes are:

"I've heard speculation that gas prices could rise to as much as $5 a gallon. But after riding my bike to work, I realized I will gladly pay any price for gas."

"I'm thankful it was only a one-day experiment. The next time I want to feel the air brush across my cheek, I'm just dropping the top on my convertible and heading to the gas station."
