I'm no professional but have been wrenching my own bike since I was a young racer because I was to poor and maintaining a race ready bike was a weekly endeavor and I was surprised this was even possible. A lot of the forum readers don't have years of experience wrenching and this "issue" in Zipp, Mavic and other hubs could easily catch them off ground. So I figure this would be a good "public service" announcement.
I agree that this was a good public service announcement. But it should not be limited to the specific case, and taken as an object lesson.

Impossible to do it wrong, isn't a reasonable standard for design, and those who chose to do their own work need to understand that there's a difference between things that happen to fit on way, and those that are assembled correctly. Once glance of the shape of the tabs, and the shape of the freehub body, and 30 seconds thought (thinking is important) should tell anybody how it is designed to fit, and prevent this type of error.

IMO- unless they make this error because they're working in their sleep, or simply have their brains disengaged, anybody that makes this kind of error maybe shouldn't be working on their bikes.
