Said female is not someone I recently, randomly met. Rather, she's someone I've known (in the general, knowing who she is sense) for a quite a while, at church.
Unfortunately, in recent months I have developed, for lack of a better term, a "crush" on her.
There's a pretty significant age difference between us. It's a problem.

...here's a novel idea. Ask her how she feels and would she feel dating you would be appropriate.
Two things might happen, the first being she says yes, that would be nice and your confidence gets a boost.
The second is that she says no, an crushes you utterly, but quickly enough that you can just get back up and start pitching again.
If you really have not given up on teh womenz, you gotta put your stuff out there, Bubba. It's hard but it builds character.
