I have two bikes with dents. One is my commuter that I bought new and at some point in time fell over on a bolder. The dent is in the TT near the HT at about the 4:00 position. The paint is dark and not shinny but eggshell. The paint was not great either as there is a run in it from the factory. I likely will not sell this bike because of the dent and because it is a great all arounder. It was purchased to be used on easy trails and expected to be beat up. Only half of that has happened with the dent as the example. Ok, its a RockHopper, not very much in demand so who cares. Anyone who bought it would not really care.
The second one is a 1972 Motobecane Le Champion (Ret.) I didn't know it at the time of purchase (1973) but the PO really clamped down on a kick stand mounted on The CS's. When I found it I was sick. Kind of ruined my "love" of the bike. Maybe thats why I never really liked riding it as much as my UO-8! Now it has wrinkles in the TT and DT not to mention the twisted up fork. I keep it because of the increadable paint job they did on this year/model. A wall hanger to go with the plate in my arm (also dented and without resale value)!
BTW: The Colnago has a huge long dent in the triangle tubes and fork is bent on the red bike!
