Just to clarify: when you say it's "really scary" both for the biker and for you, do you mean the experience of coming around a blind curve at, say, 50 mph and running up right behind a bike going 15 mph? If so, I know what you mean -- that is scary for both parties.

Like I say, in a perfect world a lot of things would be different: better understanding of road rules by drivers (I think you're getting a little education right now, no? ), more bikes (so cars expect to see them), and wider lanes so everyone has enough room.

At the very least, either more "share the road" signs. Or you could lobby to make the road off-limits for bikes -- but I doubt anyone here would be in favor of that. All I can say for now, is go a little slower and keep your eyes and mind on the road.
