A good option is a date at an art gallery. If you hit it off, you can talk about the art while wandering around or over coffee and cake afterwards. If you don't hit it off at least you both should find something interesting to look at without talking to each other.
Around here the cities and galleries put on First Friday events where you can walk from place to place and look at all different art and that seems like a good idea in case one gallery isn't a big hit. (We saw an awesome
bicycle collection at the Portland Art Museum for free last fall for example.) And there is the Sip 'n' Stroll which combines galleries, walking, and drinking.
