Exalith pads on non-Exalith rims and vice versa...

Hi,

After a minor accident destroying a wheel and some purchases I now have two (efficient) wheelsets:
  1. Mavic Ksyrium SLR on the rear and Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 C24 in the front (actually I had the whole Shimano wheelset but the rear got destroyed )
  2. Mavic Cosmic SLE on both wheels

Anyway, all my Mavic wheels have what Mavic calls an Exalith brake track and delivers special pads for the same.

Now for the rear, I use the Mavic-privded pads, but how should I proceed for the front?
  • Use my Exalith pads all the time and possibly damage de Shimano rim?
  • Switch all the time?
  • Use my former pads that were to be used with both aluminum and carbon rims? (and wear them very quickly when the Cosmic is mounted)?

Or is this whole Exalith just a marketing thing and is for real just improved aluminum?

Thanks!
