Scrap yard would pay for metal. Not sure if they would pick up but it's possible. Around here you can sell metal pretty easily. Lajoies in Norwalk comes to mind, they have a big car shredding machine. They paid me $50 for one vehicle, charged me $20 for another. When I asked why one or the other the guy said, "Honestly, if we need the metal, we'll pay for it."
I spent many hours combing through cars at Lajoies scavenging parts for my cars. That was back in the day when you would come to the counter with a toolbox and a wagon, ask for a part they didn't have like an MG generator, and they'd turn you loose in the scrap yard dodging loaders while you dug through all the Junkers looking for stuff.
