I'd probably stay away from Carbon, if you're looking for durability and low maintenance.
Carbon is just as reliable as alloy. and most of these carbon rims have traditional spokes which are easier to adjust and replace than Ksyrium ones. The lightweights have no maximum rider weight and can apparently bear up to 1000 kilos. A lot of carbon wheels are moving into the alloy price range now.
