Bikes: Fuji Touring, Fuji ACR 2.0, Roubaix & a Peugeot of mid 1980's vintage, orig 12 vitesse, now a single speed. Converted to fixie/single speed before I got it.

ET,
Is this the Mr. Sisk that I know of from NCSA?

Once you get into the ability to do a few more miles, consider one or more of the rides sponsored by "Cycle NC", found at North Carolina Amateur Sports

They offer a weekend ride near the coast in the Spring.
They offer a weekend ride in the mountains in late Summer.
They offer a "Mountains to Coast" ride in the Fall.

I will be riding in my 3rd "Mountains to Coast" ride which leaves out of Sparta in a couple of weeks. (From last weekend of September to first weekend of October, every year for past 15 or so years).

Options are many as to where you stay at night: Your own tent that they haul; your own tent that you haul; a tent supplied, erected, torn down, and hauled by a "subcontractor", which is the option I take.

It's an ultimate credit card tour. The only thing I have on my road bike is a small handlebar bag, just large enough for wallet, sunglasses case, some sunscreen and maybe a granola bar or two. Clothes, sleeping bag, etc are being transported in a truck.
