I was making longer breaks at the stop stations to recover and re-hydrate. Luckily I didn't need to stop on the side of the road, I felt cramp coming in my calf just before the last checkpoint (lake hodges).
I always plan on short stops and then end up with a few stops at what I know is the longest I can stay off the bike without my legs cooling off too much chatting with people.
Seems to happen most frequently when I'm wearing a jersey from a local small brewery. Cyclists and beer seem to go together. Maybe it's because you can't get a DUI on a bicycle here in Minnesota.
