Forget STI, unless you strip the whole current drivetrain off and replace it with the Integrated Shimano set Totally.. (thats what STI means)

Yea, get the bar end pods and Move the downtube levers onto them .. leave it friction or start over .

might as well go with 8 speed Stuff by now .. rear hub cassette the works (wont be cheap)
