Does the Fuji's frame have bosses on the downtube to mount the shifters? If not, you'll need these: Universal Cycles -- Problem Solvers Downtube Shifter Mount
The Fuji Team Super Light has no down tube bosses and the downtube is an oversized oval. Your suggestion has made me think about finding a bar-end shifter. Good idea!!
