The mid fork eyelets don't go all the way through? I only have "high mount" racks, so I don't even use the mid fork ones.

On the 1986 just the outside of the fork is threaded. The Blackburn custom lowriders don't have the hoop over the top so they have a piece that goes on each side of the fork and requires a bolt going through. Not a deal killer since I do have a Tubus on my Expedition I could move over if needed but thought it a little odd that Schwinn would make the change from one style to the other.
