On the Red 10 speed there were problems with the Red FD, so many people replaced it with the Force FD. With the Red 22 they fixed the FD and works flawlessly.
What made me chuckle on the "front derailleur issue" I had no problems with mine and it was the original one. However, I have never (not even in an extensive racing career) ever had the need to change the front end under load. Apparently I was in the minority.
And I agree...if you talk to people that really know what they are talking about it's amazing what you will learn.
