Yeah kinda the same here.

Sticking to Road Race context... there usually are not very many turns and the turns are usually opportunities to attack due to the natural accordion effect. So, sure, you could get on the front, take the turn a bit slower than necessary, then attack out of it in hopes of getting a gap. Would be helpful to have teammates behind you to let the gap open too. Honestly though, that stuff doesn't usually work if your opponents have any skill at all. I guess you could consider it one way to help tire the rest of the field, but... meh.

I see a similar effect happen on climbs, where the skinny guys get to the front before the hill, then roll into the base of the climb at very slow speeds, forcing the pack to bunch up, downshift, drop their chain, etc, then as the road tilts upward the skinny guys sprint, forcing the heavy guys to acclerate from very slow to full speed on an uphill - where the natural advantage is to the skinny guys.

All's fair, I guess... the question is... is it effective and worth the effort?
