Buy a nice set of race wheels. You always can use another pair of wheels (wheel pit, follow truck, or just to change out when you have a flat, and training time is short). And the new wheels can always go on a better frame down the road.

Also, if you don't have one, buy a power meter. Power meter properly utilized will do way more for your racing results, than any bike.
Your words are so true, it hurts.

I was looking for a set of Zipps and last night I discovered a website called craigslist. Several hundred dollars less for previously used or lightly used wheels with plenty of sellers. It blew my bind. Thanks for the heads up about the powermeter as well, I had garmin vector in mind for easier switches from bike to bike and Garmin Edge 1000 compatibility.
