I think the OP is referring to bike boxes painted into intersections. They are supposed to be used only by cyclists so that drivers will see them and not run them over making turns. We have them in Minneapolis but the problem is motorists don't know what they are and occupy them and after a season or two the paint is worn away and nobody can see them. I think it would be a good idea if the average driver was even remotely aware of the responsibilities of being a driver. Real world- meh.
