Coldest ride in to work this season (to date), 1C/34F. I put on some wool gloves but my fingers were very cold within about 7-8 min so I put on my lobster overmitts and they were warm for the rest of the ride. I had on a light toque but it was not quite light enough, I sweat a lot into the toque, I have a lighter one that I couldn't find so I'll look for it this weekend (this is my last workday of this week). I put on my Polaris RBS (really bright stuff) jacket over a mid-weight long-sleeved jersey but it was too much so I unzipped the jacket most of the way.
What surprised me the most was that my toes, although cold, were not unbearably cold. I have new shoes this year and compared with my previous ones that had more venting in the toe area, these ones have less so that probably made the difference: with the old shoes, I'd have needed my toe covers below 6C/43F but I was fine this morning. Another degree or 2 colder and I probably would have reached my limit and either needed thicker wool socks (I am wearing lightweight, ankle-length merino socks) or my current socks with a toe cover.
