Last May I was riding on a country road at about 9 o'clock in the morning. It was a fine day, birds chirping, 65 degrees, a guy was mowing his lawn and the smell of freshly cut grass was sweet. Up in front of me a large woman was riding a horse. The horse was moseying along and quite relaxed while I made sure there were no approaching cars and got as far to the left as I could so I would not spook the animal. As soon as I passed the woman went berserk and berated me for not yelling that I was coming. The horse never flinched and just kept ambling contentedly. The woman, on the other hand, kept on barking insults until I was out of sight. If I yelled that I was coming would not that startle the horse? Sometimes you just can't win.
