i did have the s-works toupe and loved it. however, i don't consider it full carbon because it has a little padding on the top. when i hear "full carbon" i think of the any of the 'exotic' carbon brands, and that's where the weight thing comes in.

my guess would have been that trying a lower-end toupe would be a better indicator of whether or not the s-works toupe is a good purchase vs another brand of saddle with similar shape to a toupe.

the older s-works toupes were ~110-115 grams. i think the newer ones got a few grams heavier. specialized seems to have added a bit of weight to all their saddles.

regardless, i hope the saddle lasts you a long time and serves your purpose. i think i'm switching my old s-works toupe to my cross bike. have the toupe pro on there now (a tip with the older toupe pros was to remove the plastic bits at the rear of the saddle and it weighed just 15 or 20g more than the s-works), but why not save the weight?
The reason I wanted to try full carbon was curiosity and curiosity alone.

I would have gotten a lower-end toupe as well if they were available to me locally (India) for a half-decent price. We have a Specialized store here which sells the Toupe Expert for the price of an S-Works (the custom duty is outrageous).

Do you get much of a discount on the Spesh saddles (other than the ones in the "outlet" on the website) when you buy them from an LBS there or do you pay retail?
