I've got a set of Vaude Aqua Back/Front Panniers. I don't have a ton of miles on them, and mostly commuter or day trip use as opposed to touring; so I'm not as qualified to answer as some others who have racked up tens of thousands of tough miles....but I've put down between 500 and 1000 miles on them, if I had to guess. Lots of these miles are on dirt/gravel paths with lots of bouncing around.

Overall, I am extremely happy with them. The quality is excellent, and I have been told that they are made by Ortleib. I don't know if that is true, but when put side by side with a set of Backrollers, they appear to be nearly identical in terms of the overall design and quality of materials and construction. The capacity is about what I need, though if I had it to do over I'd have just gotten two sets of the larger rear ones to carry more bulky light stuff up front.

The level of adjustment is adequate, though you do have to do some screwing around to get things lines up on certain racks. The mounting system didn't seem to be at all compatible with the classic Blackburn style front rack....it needs to have round tubes with no plates to prevent the clamps from locking down. I didn't mind the excuse to get a Jandd, though.

Thus far, there is very little wear and tear on the critical parts. The mounts still appear to be holding up well, as has the outer shell. Everything is great thus far.

If I had to come up with one regret, it's that I didn't get the Aqua Back/Front Plus with the extra outer pocket. The internal pockets on the regular one are nice, but still difficult to access once the pannier is packed up. Having somewhere to stash small stuff for quick access would have been nice. However, since I got mine at a bike swap and managed to score both sets brand new (albeit a year or two old) for a total of $150, I think I was just as well to end up with what I did.

Bottom line, totally recommend them. Snag the Plus version for a little extra quick-access space, if you like. Everyone I have run into that has them raves about them as much as I do; and everyone has Ortleibs so it's nice to have something less common, I think.

PS - If anyone has the matching Aquabox handlebar bag in Red that is going unused, I'd love to buy it from you.
