Yep, most of the mountains around Kyoto have drinkable sprinkwater hence bike riders only carry one water bottle. Funny fact...outside Kyoto is a Coke Cola Springwater "factory". There's a vending machine charging 150 yen (about $1.55 aust) Three metres across
the road is a natural spring with fresh water gushing out. BTW. often there are restaurant staff lined up with their cars filling up huge containers of water for cooking rice.
