You're right - he may not - but that's not the point. He lasts long in
his town. Every town, and even every street/intersection, is different and has its own personality and dangers, and it is up to every cyclist to ride in the safest manner possible. Sometimes, in some towns and intersections, that means running lights and/or stop signs, in other situations not. In my city I don't need to ride with the same style as JoeyBike, because the city is completely different. However I'm loathe to criticize his decisions because I'm not in his shoes, or in his city.
Bottom line is your safety as a cyclist is paramount when you're out there, and you need to do whatever is necessary on the roads to stay alive and uninjured.
