Hi,
I recently had an issue with a 2012 Apollo MTB, where the freewheel was "coming apart" during riding. The inner bit with all the bearings and such kept coming unscrewed from the actual body of the sprockets. I did try and fit it back together by rescrewing the (I'm assuming, bearing cap with 2 punch holes on either side).....to no avail.
I went on ebay and bought a brand new basic 7 speed Shimano freewheel (from a reputable LBS) thinking this would fix the problem, but after screwing on the freewheel and bolting the back wheelon, I gave the wheel a spin and noticed that the sprockets do not run true, it's as if the wheel is buckled, but I didn't notice any buckle in the rim of the wheel or the tyre. There's a slight "wobble" in how the sprockets are rotating, and yes the freewheel is securely fitted to the hub and not crossthreaded. Also, I have checked the freewheel unit itself. It's not bent or warped in any way.
I was afraid to test the bike in case the new unit came apart as well, is it possible the hub is twisted somehow? I'm not really sure what else to look for.
I'd rather avoid LBS if possible, I am capable, just lack of circumstantial experience.
Thanks
